Ginger came to our home due to her owners having a dissolution of marriage. She came with two other canine companion, Bishop and her daughter B-Air.

Ginger is a smaller size Dachshund and when she first came to our home was very thin. We placed her on a wet food diet and allowed her to have as much as she desires. She is slowly gaining weight now. Also she has a cough that we took her to the vets for and it is either a cold or she is allergic to something in our home. We will see which one it turns out to be by the beginning of October 2010 and will update this web page. It is now the beginning of January and we have taken her to the vets twice. The first time we took x-rays of her lungs and trac. Trac is fine, but lungs did show some infection. We tried one medicine and now will try another for the next several days. Will post what is happening with her as we go. Cross your fingers as she has gained weight and is very playful but I am still concerned about this hacking. So far none of the other canines in the home have gotten anything from her.

Ginger is a sweet lady who loves to cuddle with me at night. She basically stays near where I am at but does not get involved with the others who are rough housing (playing). Does okay in a car as long as she is not in a kennel. Does eat dry food but i do serve her the wet food for weight gain. She has had a few litters and the last one was early 2010.

As with any new companion, it is wise to spend good quality time with them and let them explore their new surrounding while you set the boundaries. It is also good to make sure they have a "special" area they can escape to when company comes. This will make both you and your companion have a much better relationship.
