Little Hawk came to his foster home so he would not be euthanized due to his broken leg. Lucky for him the foster mom was able to take him the next morning to another vet who took a look at him and said that his leg could be set but will need to have rest and be monitored for limited activities.

So Little Hawk was left at the veterinarian’s hospital where his leg was set, neutered, and rabies vaccinated. He came home the next day and was leery about walking on it for all of about 2 minutes. As time went on, Hawk used his splinted leg just as well as his others and was running around the house and yard. He also was getting to know his foster daddy better too when he would go to sleep at night curled up in his arms for protection.

Hawk's splint was on for a couple of months while it was given time to set. Then came the day doc told him no more splint and that he is as good as new. Yeah he was alright, running, playing, and jumping off furniture. Every time he did the foster parents cringed hoping he would not reinjure himself....OVER 6 months later, the family feels it is time for him to move along and find a new home with a forever family.

As with any new companion, it is wise to spend good quality time with them and let them explore their new surrounding while you set the boundaries. It is also good to make sure they have a "special" area they can escape to when company comes. This will make both you and your companion have a much better relationship.
