If you are interested, have questions, or to schedule a personal viewing for this companion only, please contact Ms. Laurie Jane Eberle, volunteer for Love of Animals, Visalia Division, Visalia, California, at 559-697-5070 or laurie@loveofanimals.org.
Ms. Benita was surrendered over to her current foster mom with very little information on her. Foster mom placed her in with several other cats and she got along well with most all of them but was leery of the foster mom. It was the same way with the other cat that was surrendered from the same person. Foster mom tried for months to get the hold her and love on her whereas the foster dad had no problems. Slowly she came around to foster mom who is now able to hold her on her back and scratch her tummy.
With this it can only be guessed that there was an issue in the previous owner’s home with the female and had to regain trust again. She is a very loving lady who will play with you once she is comfortable. Not sure how she is with dogs as she is kept in an outdoor cattery but makes no attempt to hide when the door is opened or the dogs come near.
Benita will make a wonderful addition to your family if given time to settle in but make sure to keep her indoors as that is our policies with all cats. She will love you back just as much as you love her.
It is suggested as with all feline adoptions to keep a new companion indoors for a several weeks so they become familiar with the new surroundings. It is also good to make sure they have a "special" area they can escape to when company comes. This will make both you and your companion have a much better relationship.
